A warm welcome to Davra’s newest Software Developer Nathan!

"Achieving a fulfilling career for me starts with observing the positive effects of my work on people who are less fortunate."

Tell us about yourself

Hi everybody, I am Nathan from West Dublin and I am a Software Developer on the Ford Innovation team at Davra. I have a BSc Robotics and Intelligent Devices and a MEng Electronic and Computer Engineering. I like talking about all sorts of tech, specifically about embedded IoT applications, spatial audio and anything GNU/Linux. I also like talking about climate change issues and solutions hence my current pursuit to become a An Taisce climate ambassador.

What made you choose Davra?

Working on the Ford Innovation team is the perfect balance between working with hardware and working with software. I like fixing electronics and generally making things work both in software and hardware, so this role really appealed to me from the outset.

What do you want to achieve at Davra?

Achieving a fulfilling career for me starts with observing the positive effects of my work on people who are less fortunate. Any project that can be linked to improving people’s lives appeals to me; specifically projects that help people who are struggling with certain aspects of their lives. For example, any project that can be linked to mitigating greenhouse gas emissions is a plus for me, or any other project that optimizes or enhances the way people live.

What are your hobbies or interests?

Hobby electronics, choral singing and climate action are my three main hobbies that I try and keep an even time contribution for. Back in Maynooth University I was a member of the Robot Soccer team where I learned most about C++ programming and Linux tools. We traveled to Sydney to compete in an international robot soccer tournament and I ended up pushing code which contributed to scoring our first goal! That’s a highlight for me.
