ARM and Siemens Serious IoT Platform Moves

Sizeable Acquisitions See ARM and Siemens Get Serious on IoT Platforms

In May of this year, Gartner released its long-awaited Magic Quadrant on IoT Platforms. It debunked the long-held myth of “450: IoT platform and placed only 18 companies on the report.

This last week 2 companies made serious moves that will almost certainly see them make major moves on this Magic Quadrant.

ARM

August 6th, 2018 ARM acquired “Treasure Data” an end to end data management platform for $600M to complement its June acquisition of the UK Based Stream Technology. On the same day, ARM announced the release of its Pelion IoT Platform. ARM is an amazing company expected Pelion to be a serious player. I wonder how Intel will react.

SIEMENS

August 1st, 2018 Siemens acquired Mendix the “low-code” platform for $730M. I think this is a super acquisition for Siemens and look forward to seeing how it is integrated into Mindsphere.
