Tell us about yourself

Hello my name is Jude Shiels, I am a Senior Software QA with 15 years experience in testing. In my time as a QA have worked with a large cross section of companies, from small start-ups all the way to multinational corporations, across a wide spectrum of products and industries.

What made you choose Davra?

In the last number of years I have worked for companies with a very narrow focus, specialising in highly niche products. This of course always demands very high standards in day to day testing, but it can be limiting at the same time, when the same routines continuously repeat themselves.

Davra appealed to me right away because they are not tied down to one specific market or product, and also that they are involved in a lot of different cutting edge technologies. As somebody who really enjoys and thrives with being continuously presented with diverse and fresh new challenges, this is exactly the type of role that I have craved for a long time.

What do you want to achieve at Davra?

My primary objective for now at Davra is to integrate my testing experience into the Software development processes here as effectively as possible. Thinking more long term, my goal is to be able to look back in the distant future and feel I’ve made a dynamic, positive and lasting contribution to Quality Assurance at the company.

What are your hobbies or interests?

I’ve always had a fondness for music, I’m currently trying to teach myself the drums. I also love watching sports, football(association) and boxing especially. I used to play a lot of football in the past, and I really love to swim whenever I get the opportunity. I’ve spent a lot of time in recent years living in Greece, but now I’m residing in County Leitrim, which is a great area to indulge in one of my other big recreational pursuits, hillwalking.
