MQ REPORT COMPANIES

————————————-

VISIONARIES

PTC

Built by the acquisition of Thingworx, Axeda, and Coldlight. Strong player, often seen as the original IOT Platform. Sometimes cumbersome to use, older technology stack. Final Comment A Serious Player.

Hitachi:

Japanese Giant. A new entry to the market, Pentaho forms an important part of the platform. Reminds me of GE Predix. Final Comment Interesting to watch position on renewal.

SAP:

Built by the acquisition of PLAT.ONE and Fedem Technology. Could be an option if you are a heavy SAP house otherwise has limited appeal. Final Comment Too Closed.

NICHE PLAYERS

IBM Watson

Strength in a consultative approach and its software assets. Unsure of its cohesive single point IOT Platform credentials. Final Comment Watch for Strategic Partnerships

Software AG

Foundation is the Cumulocity IoT platform, acquired in 2017. Cumulocity was highly regarded and Software AG is well respected. Final Comment One to watch.

Accenture

Developed internally by Accenture Digital and expanded with the acquisition of Exara in 2017. Final Comment Interesting to see Accenture investment in this platform.

Oracle

Built by Oracle on Oracle. A solid platform relies mostly on Oracle Cloud. Final Comment Solid Option for Oracle houses.

Altizon

Indian headquartered, Backed by Wipro – $4M in VC funding. Relatively unknown. Good Customer base in ASIAPAC. Final Comment Interesting to see position on renewal

Atos

French $13B IT services giant acquired KPMG consulting. Strong consultancy background helps position IoT platform. Final Comment Lack of channel might slow progress but interesting.

Flutura

Indian headquartered, Backed by Singapore VC – $8.5M in VC funding. Good data analytics – some good customers. Final Comment Interesting to see position on renewal

QiO:

UK based startup with $8M in venture capital. Excellent beachhead industrial customers, strong management team and founder of WWW Tim Berners-Lee is a backer. Final Comment Interesting to see position on renewal

NOTABLE VENDORS

BOSCH

Strong in device management and very cloud-focused. Tends to have a focus on consumer and commercial IoT aswell. Final Comment Watch for strategic partnerships

DAVRA

Fully focused IoT Platform company since 2012. Strong Ecosystem, modern microservices based software stack, excellent track record of delivering real IOT. Final Comment: A Serious Player.

EUROTECH

The original founders of MQTT and origins found in M2M. The Everyware Cloud (and Appliance) is respected but lack capabilities in building full solutions. Final Comment Interesting to see how committed Eurotech is to the Platform this year.

SIEMENS

Mindsphere is Siemens IOT Platform. A very solid platform but is cloud only. Final Comment Watch for strategic partnerships

GE DIGITAL

The predix IoT Platform was the darling of IoT Platforms not so long ago but has really fallen from grace over the last year. Final Comment Don’t expect it to get it IoT Platform crown back any time so at all.

MICROSOFT

Azure IoT Hub suffers in this industry as its cloud only. A recently announced 5 billion in IoT (April 2018) is sure to catapult Microsoft into a strong position. Final Comment Future Leader.

SCHNEIDER ELECTRIC

Not a fully standalone horizontal platform today. Final Comment: If Schneider invests could be a serious player.
