Discover how IoT revolutionises transport and logistics with real-time tracking, predictive maintenance, and smart warehouse solutions. Enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve customer satisfaction through IoT solutions built on the Davra Platform.
Find your assets, whether they’re on the tracks or in the depot, by leveraging real-time GPS data. Improve customer satisfaction with ETAs that dynamically adjust based on vehicle location.
Integrate external conditions such as weather and traffic conditions, and connect up to cloud applications, digital signage, and PA systems, so customers always stay informed. Finally, leverage GPS data to ensure your routes get signalling priority, keeping trips on time and customers happy.
Provide real-time location and status of cargo during transit. Using GPS and other IoT sensors, logistics companies can monitor cargo, predict arrival times, and send real-time updates to stakeholders.
In case of cargo damage, monitor environmental conditions like temperature, humidity, and shock during transit. Alert logistics managers to potential damage risks in real-time with precise location tracking, enabling prompt corrective actions.
Prevent breakdowns, extend equipment lifespan, and lower maintenance costs for critical infrastructure. Predictive maintenance uses IoT data to continuously monitor assets including trains, buses, tracks, and bridges.
By collecting and analysing sensor data, camera feeds, or satellite images, IoT systems can predict when maintenance is needed before failures occur. Predictive maintenance ensures higher reliability and safety in transportation, leading to more efficient operations and reduced downtime.
Improve customer satisfaction with enhanced Wi-Fi and cell service. With IoT, transport operators can proactively manage network resources, quickly address connectivity issues, and provide a reliable internet experience, even in traditionally hard-to-reach areas.
IoT devices can continuously monitor signal strength, data usage, and network performance, allowing for real-time adjustments and optimisation. Turn this into actionable data by monitoring passenger volumes, behaviours, and station dwell times.
Enhance the passenger experience on public transport with IoT-enabled services. Improve customer satisfaction and increase ridership by providing accurate, up-to-date information, delivered across multiple channels.
Connect real-time feeds to the Davra Platform, and communicate with passengers via digital signage, PA systems, or web services and mobile apps using GTFS channels. Enhance accessibility with dedicated announcements for disabled passengers, and ensure continuous connectivity with IoT-enabled network management.

Background
San Diego Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) is a public transportation company serving approximately 3 million people in San Diego County. MTS schedules 7,000 trips every weekday and has more than 160 trolley cars and 750 buses in its fleet.
Problem
MTS was underperforming in customer satisfaction and operational efficiency, and concluded it needed an overhaul of its IT system to connect IT and OT systems, collect data, and generate insights to address these issues. It wanted several bespoke applications, including a real-time location tracking system for its fleet of trolleys and buses, able to push information to stations, stops, and apps for the benefit of its ridership. MTS received quotes ranging from $2 to $3 million for developing one-off, siloed solutions.
Solution
Davra provided MTS with an enterprise-grade IoT platform enabling it to execute a centralised IoT strategy and roadmap. We connected back-office OT systems to downstream systems including ETA and PA systems, text messages to digital signage, and audio messages to platform speakers. Davra also developed ten new integrated solutions for MTS, replacing the $2M-$3M development effort with a single platform subscription fee and < $500k development efforts.
MTS has become a leader in employing IoT to deliver customer satisfaction and operational efficiency in rail environments, and other transit authorities are now replicating the MTS model. Data flows seamlessly from the Davra Platform to the 220 digital signs at train stations around San Diego, so passengers always know when their train is due.
